HAVE A GROANER OR TWO
Fans of purple prose are familiar with the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, sometimes known as the "Dark and stormy night" contest, because the object is to come up with a bad first line for an imaginary story. Here's the 2007 winner in the Children's category: Danny, the little Grizzly cub, frolicked in the tall grass on this sunny Spring morning, his mother keeping a watchful eye as she chewed on a piece of a hiker they had encountered the day before.
