Thank you Mel for putting this clearly. I'd admired Hitchen's muscular lyricism, at time to the point of tears of joy. But I'd felt ambivalent about his sardonic attitude, some of his politics, and his joining the religion-is-bad bandwagon. You put (good) words to sentiment.
