Having seen the Bill Moyers interview with Goldstone, and all the trouble he had trying to even get into Israel and get any politician to speak with him, all the while Palestinians in Gaza welcomed him with open arms. He was also AMAZED at his fellow Jews for not being so forthcoming & trying to halt the investigation and impeding him almost every step of the way. Zionism is just like any other ideology and is up for sane & logical debate, just as we do with communism,democracy and what appears to me to be the base for Zionism and that is Libertarianism with a healthy dose of unfettered capitalism. It is time for a debate and get rid of this erroneous label of anti-semitism. Add your comment - Start a new topic From: Fortunata - Posted: 04-Nov-09 - 19:06 I'm certainly not anti-Semitic, but I'm getting really perturbed over the way that Harper is blatantly cultivating the Jewish vote, by supporting Israel no matter what. I am sick and tired of the total selfishness of B'Nai B'rith, and the Jewish Defense League - telling OUR government whether to let in some loony British MP!! I am thoroughly fed up with it. I used to belong to a Jewish recreation centre, but I will not join that place again at $600 a year, because of the fact that the money goes to Israel. I always supported it - but this suppression of free speech has got to stop. This is going to backfire, you can be sure of that. It's stupid thinking, they're not looking ahead - getting into bed with Christian fundamentalists to get their own way on matters pertaining to Israel. Look at what happened with the Human Rights Commission - in Alberta! First dreamed up by Jews for protection of Jews, it's now being used against Ezra Levant, by a Muslim, and it has become a joke in Alberta. My daughter tried to access it for a legitimate complaint of her own, and was treated shamefully. So, it's going to backfire. You can't suppress people's opinions, and you cannot manipulate Canadian politics like this - and allowing yourselves to be lured into voting for Harper - it's disgusting. I have lost all respect. What counts in Canada is the welfare of Canada. If you're concerned about Israel, then go to Israel. That is the most fear-mongering, oppressive behaviour that I've ever seen on this continent. My father didn't spend 30 years in the Canadian Navy, and the war years fighting off German UBoats in the North Atlantic -- to have this kind of oppression happen in Canada!! You should be ashamed of yourselves. This is all to get the Jewish vote, or as much of it as he can. Harper's focus is 100% on Getting A Majority. Everything he does is towards that aim - everything. Each time he doesn something that pleases a segment of the population, he has calculated the response. His ultimate goal is to turn Canada into a Bible-thumping country; back to the 50s. Israel, by the way, is apparently poised to become a theocracy anytime soon. They have enough trouble of their own without telling us what to do.
