Concur with this article; in addition to speculators driving up food prices, I would add that "middlemen" between the producer and the consumer also contributes to large portion of the surge of food prices. I heard somewhere that there is sufficient food produced on the earth from it's land but the problem is distribution. If that is true then we should not be tolerating putting up with starving and malnourished populations by the millions. Combining that with lack of clean drinking water, we've got more than just a problem of producing food.
