It seems to me that the women's movement was more of a threat to the ruling elite, not simply because of shared power between men and women, but because the public narrative was moving towards a reverence for life while interrogating the value of power for power's sake. Then suddenly there was funds to promote religion to a bigoted, hateful doctrine as opposed to religion as a spiritual understanding. And suddenly the funded anti-abortion movement projected images of women as murderers of their own children, and feminists as destroying family. And of course, war is always a good device for de-humanising society.

The question is - when will people realize how power-over works to keep them oppressed or how understanding this will liberate them.
